Cuvee Jean-Paul Rouge 2011

Cuvee Jean-Paul Rouge 2011

South West France

€9.49

Straightforward and gluggable Côtes-du-Rhône impersonator whose sole flaw is that it's just too drinkable.

Grape Varieties: Grenache/Garnacha Syrah/Shiraz

Type: Red

Country: France

Alcohol: 12.5%

Style: Fresh, fruity

Size: 750ml

Drink By: 2014

Approachable and warming character with oodles of jammy spiced plum, orange peel and baked strawberry tart notes. Ample sweet, ripe fruit seasoned and balanced with hallmark southern Rhône spice and heft. Medium bodied and lusciously textured.

Drink on its own or with gourmet burgers, spare ribs or crispy hoisin duck.

Vaucluse is a department in the southern Rhône area of France, with Avignon as its main town. It produces a huge volume of wine. IGP Vaucluse is the designation given to wines that are made outside the delimited area for Côtes du Rhône and other appellation. The wine is quaffed in great quantity in the bistros and cafes of the region.

Tasting notes for Cuvee Jean-Paul Rouge 2011

Light-medium ruby red.

Red fruits - strawberry and raspberry - and a savoury hint of chocolate.

Medium bodied, dry, refreshing red fruits and plum. Nicely rounded, easy drinking and a good food wine.

Matt, Jan 10 (2008 vintage)
